Restoration

We are very fortunate to work in collaboration with a professional restorer in Bournemouth. He is able to clean and repair works of art on paper and works on canvas. Serious damage such as tears and punctures can also be repaired - our restorer has carried out extensive work for the large auction houses in London, including Christies.

The work of a restorer is to prolong the life of the artwork and repair works that have been damaged by humidity, fungus attacks, bad framing, staining and what is known in the trade as 'foxing'. Often oil paintings can loose their tension and this will cause the surface to crack and this then makes the picture susceptible to damage from air pollutants.

What you will need to do is bring the artwork into the gallery, making sure that you have packaged it securely. We will contact Richard who will assess the work that needs to be carried out and then we will give you an estimated cost for the work. If you accept the estimate the work will proceed, please be aware that Richard is very busy and restoration and conservation work can take many weeks to complete.
